Interventional Radiologist
Dr. Ilyas Hasanov is the first interventional radiologist of Azerbaijan. Many interventional radiological operations were performed by Ilyas Hasanov's team for the first time in Azerbaijan as a local specialist.
Education and Professional Development
From 1988 to 1998, he studied at Secondary School No. 249 in Baku. In 1998, he was admitted to the First Faculty of General Medicine and Preventive Care at Azerbaijan Medical University and completed his higher medical education in 2004.
From 2004 to 2006, he completed residency training in radiology at the Central Research Institute of X-ray Radiology in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation. From 2006 to 2008, he continued his residency training in radiologic surgery.
From 2008 to 2009, he participated in an advanced training program in interventional radiology, with a particular focus on interventional neuroradiology, at Asklepios Klinik Altona in Hamburg, Germany.
From 2009 to 2010, he completed long-term advanced training courses in interventional radiology at Başkent University Hospital and Medical Park hospitals in Istanbul, Türkiye.
In 2010, he attended an advanced training course in interventional procedures involving the venous system at the Vascular Diseases Center in Ferrara, Italy, under the supervision of Professor Paolo Zamboni. During the program, he further developed his theoretical knowledge and practical skills in procedures such as venous balloon angioplasty and stent implantation.
Scientific Activity
On November 24, 2010, he defended his dissertation entitled “Treatment of Metastatic Liver Tumors Using Interventional Methods” in Saint Petersburg and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Sciences.
His scientific articles on interventional radiology and related medical fields have been published in local and international scientific journals.
Professional Experience
2009–2012 — Worked as an interventional radiologist at the Central Customs Hospital.
2009–2013 — Served as General Manager and a member of the Board of Directors at Avrasiya Clinic, while also practicing as an interventional radiologist.
2013–2015 — Worked as Chief Physician and interventional radiologist at Medistyle Hospital.
2015–2016 — Worked as Chief Physician and interventional radiologist at Avrasiya Hospital.
2016–2018 — Served as Director and interventional radiologist at Ganja International Hospital.
2018–2019 — Served as Director at Synergy Group LLC.
2019–2020 — Worked as Chief Physician and interventional radiologist at Medistyle Hospital.
2020–2021 — Served as Deputy Chief Physician at the Modular Hospital of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
2021–2022 — Served as Director and interventional radiologist at Medistyle Hospital.
2022–2023 — Continued his professional activity as an interventional radiologist at Olimp Hospital.
2023–2026 — Worked as an interventional radiologist at Zəfəran Hospital.
Current Position
He currently serves as Director of the Interventional Heart and Vascular Center and as an interventional radiologist at the Teaching Therapeutic Clinic of Azerbaijan Medical University.
Throughout his professional career, he has gained extensive clinical experience in interventional radiology and has also held senior management positions involving the administration of medical institutions, the organization of healthcare services, and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
